Essie Turkey Best Combination Contest

Hello guys =) This post is kinda rushed and the pictures came out all funny because it was night when I took them & I can't fit in a lightbox =D
Essie Turkey is holding a contest for April, the contestants should match their Essie polish with clothes & accessories, and get creative with it. Now that I'm working, I didn't have much time, but I managed to create three different combinations. Maybe I should have worked on a single one and be more creative with it, but somehow I couldn't choose a single idea, all the Essie colors I own deserve their own combination! =) If you like any of these combinations, you can click on the link underneath, and vote for me by liking it on facebook =) Two people who receive the most votes will be rewarded a coupon code by Essie and buy 4 full size polishes with it! =)
Finally I settled with these three combinations. Again, sorry for the crappy picture quality, my HD cam tends to make the skin come out in vivid colors when it's night.
First I have Essie Mint Candy Apple with Essie Haute As Hello tips.


I had a dress in these exact colors when I was a child, salmon and mint green, with huge polka dots. =)
The heart ring is from Accessorize, and the earrings are from SIX. The T-Shirt is from Bershka, the cardigan is from Pull & Bear.

Then I tried this combination, Essie Smokin' Hot with white pearls from Born Pretty Store on top.


The ring is from SIX, so are the earrings. The bracelet is from Marks & Spencer, the T-Shirt is from Pieces, and the cardigan from Mango.

NOTD: YSL Rock et Baroque Manicure

Hi everyone =) You've probably seen the new "Rock et Baroque" collection YSL has come up with. There are four sets, and each set consists of two polishes. The colors in a set are meant to be used as French manicure base and tip colors, to create a funky, yet chic French manicure. The sets are going like this:
Rive Gauche: Red and Fuchsia.
Belle de Nuit: Purple and Gold.
Belle de Jour: Indigo and Turquoise
Classic French: You probably know that by now.
You can even alternate the tip and base color on every finger, to make your manicure more personal.


Although the idea is far from being revolutionary, the way all the colors look together really gave me some inspiration this time. I decided to replicate this manicure with the colors I already own.


Left hand:

Pinky: Flor Mar #319 as base color, white creme for the tips.
Ring: China Glaze Flyin' High as base color, Alix Avien #163 for the tips.
Midle: Flor Mar Supermatte M120 as base color, China Glaze 2030 for the tips.
Index: Burnt orange franken as base color, China Glaze Designer Satin for the tips.

Right hand:

Pinky: China Glaze 2030 as base color, Flor Mar Supermatte M120 for the tips.
Ring: China Glaze Designer Satin as base color, burnt orange franken for the tips.
Midle: Flor Mar #319 as base color, white creme for the tips.
Index: Alix Avien #163 as base color, China Glaze Flyin' High for the tips.
Thumbs are purple and gold, too, but alternating.
I really like the result. It's no secret that I love a funky French =)

Herkese merhaba =) YSL'nin yeni çıkardığı "Rock et Baroque" koleksiyonunu gördünüz mü bilmiyorum. Bu koleksiyonda dört tane ikili oje seti var. Bu iki ojeden biri baz olarak, diğeri ise tırnağın ucuna sürerek kullanılmak için tasarlanmış. Tabi renkleri istediğiniz gibi kombine edebiliyorsunuz. Kişiye özel kombinasyonlar oluşturmak bu koleksiyonun ana fikri anladığım kadarıyla.
Fikir çok da devrim niteliğinde olmasa da, kullanılan renkler bana ilham verdi. Ben de halihazırda elimde bulunan renklerle bu manikürün aynısını yapmaya karar verdim.

Ben bu manikürü çok sevdim. Zaten karmakarışık renklerde french yapmayı çok sevdiğim bir sır değil =)

Review: Eyeko Nail Polishes - Petite Polish

My Eyeko Review continues with Eyeko Petite Polish.


Petite Polish is a sheer pink, specially made for French manicures and sheer lovers. I used two coats, and it gave my nails a nice pinkish blush. This color is perfect for neat French nails. I didn't have a nice pink French manicure base like this one, so no comparison pictures this time. Although I didn't try it out, I think this might be opaque in 3 or 4 coats.


I did a basic French manicure using Petite Polish and white. I used Nailene Bedazzled Super Star decals on my rings and thumbs. I love how neat and clean my nails look! I guess I should do French more often ;)

Petite Polish is really nice if you want a blushing pink as a French base, or if you are a sheer pink/nude lover. I can't say I'm a sheer lover, but I think this polish makes the nails look chic and elegant. I must say I like this more than OPI Bubble Bath =) Although it's not a unique polish, it's a very nice basic =)

NOTD: Dark But Girly

Hey everyone =) Remember the "Dipping & Swiping Technique" I talked about a few posts ago? Well, I've been trying to master that technique for tutorial reasons, and it turns out that I'm by no means good at it, plus that the technique is not very reliable. The first time I got it right was sheer luck, I guess =/ But I'm going to do a tutorial about how I do my freehand french tips, and I'm almost good at it, too =)
These tips are freehanded, and 3 coats over black to be visible, but of course I prefer less coats. With more suitable colors, it's possible to get it correctly done in one coat =)
These nails are a bit dark but girly at the same time. Black base, China Glaze Sneaker Head tips, and China Glaze 2030 & plate m03 for the stamps.




I lent one of my double ended stampers to a newbie friend, and I was using the short stamper, but although it's easier to control, it's harder for me to align the designs. So I'm back to my double ended stamper for now.
Well, although the execution sucks, there is still the idea =)

Herkese merhaba =) Birkaç yazı önce bahsettiğim pratik Fransız manikürü tekniğini hatırlıyor musunuz? Eh, bir video çekmek için o teknik üzerinde uzmanlaşmaya çalışıyordum, ve uzmanlaşmayı bırakın, aslında beceremediğimi ve o teknikle düzgün yapmanın çok da garantili olmadığını anladım. Sanırım ilk sefer başarmam tamamen acemi şansıydı =/ Ama normalde Fransız manikürünü elimle nasıl yaptığımı mutlaka göstereceğim, üstelik o teknikte iyi bile sayılırım =)
Uçlarını elimle yaptım, siyah üzerine üç kat pembe sürdüm. Aslında bir kat beyaz üzerine bir kat pembe sürebilirdim ama beyazım yoktu. Başka renk kombinasyonlarında bir katta bile rengi gösterebilirsiniz, eğer düzgün sürerseniz =)
Bu manikür biraz karanlık ama aynı zamanda tam bir kız manikürü. Siyah baz üzerine China Glaze Sneaker Head kullanarak bant çekildi ve China Glaze 2030 & m03 diskiyle damga yapıldı.
Bu işlere yeni başlayan bir arkadaşıma iki uçlu damgalarımdan birini ödünç verdim, bu yüzden küçük damgamı kullanıyorum. Aslında daha kolay kontrol edilse de, desenleri hizalamakta çok zorlanıyorum. Bu yüzden iki uçlu damgama şimdilik geri döndüm.
Eh, uygulama kötü olsa da, en azından fikir verebilir =)

NOTD: Slim Funky French

Hey everyone =) It's 6:40 AM here! My sleep pattern is so terribly messed up, that I can't sleep before 7 AM and can't wake up before 3 PM. I hope I can somehow fix it =)
I did a French manicure for today. Today is the birthday of one of my best friends, and we're going out, so I wanted a simple, yet catchy manicure. I applied 3 coats of China Glaze Vintage Crepe. It's fine in 2 coats, but I was careless so I did 3. Then I used white polish for the tips. As you will see, the tips are very very slim. I still can't decide about the thickness of French tips that suit me the best. These are extra slim, but when I do them freehand, I feel like they're too wide. I guess I need to practice more to get them the way I want. These are freehanded, but because it's very very hard to get a nice line this thin, I used the dipping & swiping technique first*.
I liked the color combination very much, and I was going to leave the nails that simple, but I realized I had some bubbling & one nail had a piece of hair-like dust stuck under the topcoat, which I HATE. I didn't want to cover it with konad, either, so I added some rhinestones on top.





Trust me, they look much nicer from a distance.
So tell me, do you like slim French tips? Does this type of French suit me?

*Dipping & Swiping: Put a drop of nail polish in your opposite palm, dip your nail tip inside, and swipe from side to side. You'll have an amazingly thin & perfect looking french tip. I freehanded using that line as my guideline, to make them a bit wider. I'll try to shoot a tutorial for that.

Herkese merhaba. Saat sabahın 7'si =) Uyku düzenim o kadar şaşmış durumda ki, sabah 7'den önce uyuyamıyorum, öğlen 3'ten önce ise uyanamıyorum. Umarım bir şekilde düzeltebilirim =)
Bugün en iyi arkadaşlarımdan birinin doğumgünü, ve akşam dışarı çıkılacak. Bu yüzden hem basit, hem de göze çarpan bir manikür yapmak istedim. Tabanda 3 kat China Glaze Vintage Crepe var, uçlarda ise beyaz oje. Görebileceğiniz gibi uçlardaki bantları çok ince tuttum bu sefer. Hala hangi kalınlıkta yapmam gerektiğine tam olarak karar verebilmiş değilim. Bu sefer Fransız manikürünü bir elime damlayıp diğer elimle kazıyarak yaptım, ama tam güvenemiyorum bu tekniğe. Sanki şansa bala oldu gibi geldi bana. Ben yine elimle çekmeye devam edeceğim sanırım.
Tırnaklarımı bu şekilde sade bırakacaktım ama biraz baloncuk ve ufak tefek bozulmalar olunca, üstlerine taş yapıştırmaya karar verdim.
Bir ara elimle düzgün bir french yapmanın videosunu çekeceğim, ama kim bilir ne zaman.

Theme: Black - Black French & Silver Polka Dots

Since I'm not overflowing with creative juices these days, I decided to challenge myself with weekly themes. Some of these ideas are of my own and some are recreations of great ideas seen on other blogs. I won't be doing themes every week, just when I'm planning on doing manicures that can be grouped together in a theme. Lately I was thinking about many black manicures, so the first theme is going to be "black".
This is one of the manicures that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It's by Konad & Me. It's basically a simple manicure with black tips and silver polka dots on top. I love how simple, yet edgy it looks! So I gave it a try.
I started with two coats of sheer nude polish, basically any sheer nude will do. Then I freehanded the tips using a local brand black polish. Finally I stamped the dots from m45 in silver on top.



Yesterday I gave m19 several tries, and I'm proud to say that there is progress =)

NOTD: Purple & Bronze

Here is a basic one before I do my New Year's mani. I have to admit, I'm amazed at how this magenta/purple and bronze look together. The purple is similar to China Glaze Let's Groove, maybe looking a bit towards China Glaze Stella. It's a gorgeous color, and has the same lit-from-within look that China Glaze Retro Diva polishes do. I did the tips with a bronze Inglot polish, and I was about to leave my nails that way, but the Konad monster peeked out as always, and I stamped the nails using China Glaze Admire and Konad plate s06.



They look soo much better in real life than in pictures. And I'm really pleased with my freehand tips! Btw, it doesn't really show up, but Admire is a cool pink, and compliments the bronze and the purple nicely. =)
