I've been trying out some layering combinations, which you'll probably be seeing right after the challenge ends =) I'm pretty pleased with my China Glaze Fast Forward Topcoat, applying two coats at most tames even the hungriest glitter polishes.
Anyway, here are the pop art nails I've done on my friend's nails last week. She is the one I've painted the smurf nails for =) Done with acrylic paint, as always.

31 Day Challenge: Day 7

Today is Day 7, day of BLACK & WHITE nails. I don't know about you, but whenever I think about black & white, I think about chess. I'm not a very good chess player, but I love chess. Whenever I lose, I learn something new.
I used the full checkerboard design from the Essence stamping plate. If you look closely, you can see that the board is indeed 8x8. That happened by chance =) I drew the Black Knight and the White King using acrylic paint & a fine brush. The jawline of the horse is just the white contour on black, but it looks like a gap in pictures and makes the neck appear very thin. That was not my intention, it didn't look like a gap in real life =)

Having missed out on OPI Merry Midnight, I'm in love with Fowl Play. It's so gorgeous, I can't even describe the beauty of this polish. Let this close-up picture do the talking:

Bugün 7. gün, yani SİYAH & BEYAZ manikür günü. Sizi bilmem ama ben ne zaman siyah beyaz bir konsept düşünsem, küçüklüğümden beri aklıma Satranç gelir. Bu kez ilginç bir şekilde aklımın ucundan bile geçmedi, ama arkadaşım Dilara "Aklıma satranç geldi" diyince hemen şimşek çaktı. İyi bir satranç oyuncusu değilim ama satranca bayılırım, her fırsatta oynarım ya da pratik yapmaya çalışırım. Birine her yenildiğimde de yeni bir şey öğreniliyor bence, o yüzden kaybetmek bile önemli ve gerekli satranç oynarken.
Öncelikle orta tırnağımda beyaz üzerine siyah konad ojesi ile Essence diskindeki dama desenini yaptım. Dikkat ederseniz tırnağımda desenin gerçekten 8x8 boyutunda olduğunu göreceksiniz. Bu tamamen tesadüf, ben de şaşırdım =) Daha sonra Siyah At ve Beyaz Şah'ı akrilik boya ve ince bir fırça kullanarak çizdim. Atın çenesinde siyah üzerine beyaz kontür var, ama sanki boynunu çok ince yapmışım gibi bir ilüzyon oluşturmuş resimlerde. Gerçekte böyle gözükmüyordu göze =)
Bu arada son aldığım ojeleri göstermek istiyorum. İlk resimdekiler, Deniz Rio'nun garaj satışından alındı. Deniz bir çok ojeyi şu an 10 TL gibi bir fiyata satıyor. Ayrıca başka makyaj malzemeleri de var. Mutlaka bir göz atın derim. Deniz çok dürüst bir satıcı, beraber çalıştığı kardeşleri de öyle. Üstelik yakın zamanda son izinleri de halledip yeni oje siparişlerine başlayacaklar. Ben defalarca alışveriş yaptım; saygılı, dürüst ve sıcakkanlı, üstelik çok da hızlılar ve işlerini sağlam yapıyorlar. Garaj satışlarında şu an Urban Decay, Too Faced, Stila gibi markaların ürünleri de 10 TL, 20 TL gibi komik fiyatlara satılıyor. NOTD: Summer Skittles

I was actually meaning to show you the polishes I've hauled in the last weeks, but it feels useless and stupid as about 10 million people are suffering from drought in East Africa and about 50 children are dying each day of malnutrition, dehydration and diseases. Me and my family are going to donate here http://www.unicef.org.uk/landing-pages/hornofafricaweb/ and I suggest you to do the same, donate somewhere you think will help the affected people most effectively. Just think about it as a fall collection not purchased in time. This crisis needs swift action. Even 10$ could provide water supply, vaccination or enriched food to help the malnourished children; because there is no such thing as too few when it comes to help...
Here are some local brand polishes I hauled in the past weeks, from brands Pastel, Gabrini and Flor Mar. They have all come up with unique, summer appropriate colors I haven't seen Turkish brands coming up with before. First of all, these are Gabrini Summer Edition polishes. The last two are from their Elegant line, but I included them, too.

I really like 371, it's the darkest navy polish I've ever seen, it feels like ink on the nails =)

I should note that 308 is a dupe for Chanel Mimosa.

Thumb is Flor Mar #431, index is Flor Mar #429, Middle is Pastel #70, Ring is Gabrini M101 and Pinky is Gabrini M107. I stamped the pink grapefruit image from m55 using Konad Special Polish in pink, and the fish on my thumb from m82 using Konad Special Polish in white.

Aslında son birkaç haftadır aldığım ojeleri göstermek istiyordum, ama sonra sadece bunu yapmanın çok saçma olacağına karar verdim. Doğu Afrika'da olan felaket beni çok etkiliyor. Her gün 50 çocuk son 60 yılın en büyük kuraklığı yüzünden açlık, susuzluk, sıcak ve hastalık sebebiyle ölürken burada sadece ojeden bahsetmek çok vicdansızca ve boş geliyor bana. Bu yüzden ben ve ailem olarak şuraya bağış yapmayı düşünüyoruz: http://www.unicef.org.uk/landing-pages/hornofafricaweb/ ve ben de sizden bir keyfi ihtiyaç parasını kısıp, güvendiğiniz ve inandığınız bir kuruluş üzerinden bağış yapmanızı öneriyorum. Varsın bir tişört, bir oje, bir öğlen yemeği eksik olsun. Bu krizin biran önce bizim yardımımıza ihtiyacı var. Dünyanın bizim kadar yaşamaya elverişli olmayan bir bölgesinde doğmuş oldukları için "ne halleri varsa görsünler" düşüncesiyle gözümüzü kapamak, vicdansızlığa ortak olmak olur. Bir 20 liralık bağış bile çocuklar için temiz su kaynağı demek, beslenme demek, aşı demek. Yardımın ufağı olmaz, bu yüzden herkesi büyük küçük diye düşünmeden elinden geldiği kadar yardıma çağırıyorum.
Bu ağır konudan sonra istemeyerek de olsa biraz ojelerden bahsedeyim. Son zamanlarda Gabrini, Pastel ve Flor Mar adeta birbiriyle yarışırcasına daha önce görmediğimiz güzellikte ojeler çıkardı. Alix Avien de oje çıkardı ama henüz bulmak kısmet olmadığı için o konuda bir yorum yapamıyorum şu an. Öncelikle Gabrini Summer Edition ojelerini göstereyim. Resimdeki son iki oje Elegant serisinden, ama ben onları da dahil ettim.

NOTD: Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe

Hello everyone =) I'm sorry for the lack of updates last week. I was kinda too busy to attend my blog, and I had the same polish for about 4 days. It even chipped on me, which rarely happens because I change my polish so often =)
Anyway, I received a package from USA with the help of my dear friend, Liz. Living in Turkey, it's hard for me to get my hands on polishes I want, so it's wonderful to have a good friend living in the States =)
I will show you what I got in the following days, I don't want to do a big haul post right now. But here is a sneak peek of the Orly Cosmics I've got:



I skipped Halley's Comet, because I already have Zoya Charla. I would love to own the whole collection, but I think it was really unnecessary this time with me owning Charla. (You can spot Charla on the leftmost spot of the wheel.)
You will see the Cosmics and many more beautiful stuff in the following weeks =)
Today I'm wearing Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe, which is also a part of my last haul. MMUtM is a teal jelly chocked with emerald green flecks. Overall it's a pine green glass flecked polish. It looks like a green-to-blue duochrome in the bottle that doesn't fully transfer on the nails, just like Zoya Sparkle polishes from the past summer.

I've been trying to take pictures with my Sanyo Xacti Full-HD Dual Cam, since I've discovered that the super macro mode is amazing. It really shows details up to the tiniest glass fleck. I just need to get used to it's settings.



A quick comparison of Zoya Ivanka and Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe:


As you can see, Ivanka on the left is lighter, more saturated and more yellow-based. The base is an emerald green, and the flecks are bright green. MMUtM has a teal base and emerald green flecks, the overall look is darker and less saturated.

Herkese merhaba =) Geçen hafta blogu pek güncelleyemedim, üzgünüm. Bir ojenin 4 gün elimde kaldığını, üstelik soyulduğunu söylersem, ne kadar meşgul olduğumu anlarsınız.
ABD'den bir ay önce verdiğim siparişler dün elime ulaştı. İstediğim siparişleri bir araya toplayıp bana gönderen bir arkadaşım olması harika bir şey =) Şu an aldıklarımın hepsini biraraya toplayıp gösterecek kadar enerjik hissetmiyorum, onun yerine önümüzdeki günlerde tırnaklarımda göreceğiniz Orly Cosmic koleksiyonuna kısaca göz atabilirsiniz.
Bu koleksiyondan bir tek Halley's Comet'i almadım, çünkü onun ikizi olan Zoya Charla bende mevcut. Göz göre göre aynısını almak saçma olur diye düşündüm. Tırnak çemberi üzerinde en solda Charla'yı görebilirsiniz.
Bugün tırnaklarımda yine yeni aldığım ojelerden Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe var. Baz olarak petrol yeşili, ama içi zümrüt yeşili ışıltılarla dolu olduğu için genel görünüm koyu bir çam yeşili oluyor. Yapı olarak geçtiğimiz yazdan Zoya Sparkle koleksiyonuna inanılmaz benziyor.
Bu arada süper makro çekim özelliğini keşfettiğimden beri Sanyo Xacti Full-HD Dual kameramla çekim yapıyorum. Çok detaylı resimler çekebilen bir kamera, sadece bazı ayarlarına biraz daha alışmam gerekiyor.
Bu arada gördüğünüz gibi Zoya Ivanka ve Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe birbirinden farklı, solda Ivanka daha açık, daha canlı ve daha sarıya dönük bir yeşilken, MMUtM daha koyu, soluk ve maviye dönük.

Haul: Fashion Night Out at Essie & NOTD: Playa Del Platinum

Hey guys =) At Fashion Night Out two nights ago, I was in front of the Essie booth with Nemo Latte. We got our nails did and I got two polishes, Sew Psyched and Playa Del Platinum. I've really been into neutrals lately. Also, we got served with delicious cupcakes and white chocolate brownies. It was fun to be there.


Here are our hands together. My nails were painted with Essie In Stitches, and her nails were painted with Midnight Cami with Matte About You on top.

Then I was lucky to find Essie Greenport and Essie Sag Harbor online. Here are all my new Essie polishes together:


I'm soo happy for all of them. I've been wanting Playa Del Platinum and Sag Harbor for a long time, and Sew Psyched is truly gorgeous. Greenport is another nice add to my aqua collection =)
Today I have Playa Del Platinum on my nails. Playa Del Platinum is a beige-grey with a hint of green.
The closest shade I could find was Pastel Grey. The formula was nice, and dried to a glossy finish. This is three coats.



I think this is a lovely color, very soft and wearable, yet edgy.
Wait for my other Essie swatches =)

İki gece önce Nemo Latte ile Bread & Butter'ın önünde, Essie ile birlikteydik. Tırnaklarımıza oje sürdürdük ve ben istediğim iki tane ojeyi aldım, Sew Psyched ve Playa Del Platinum. Son zamanlarda nötr renklere sarmış durumdayım zaten. Bu arada bol bol cupcake ve beyaz çikolatalı brownie yedik. Orada bulunmak gerçekten güzeldi.
Benim tırnaklarımda Essie In Stitches, Nemo'nun tırnaklarında ise Midnight Cami üzerine Matte About You var.
Daha sonra, çok şanslı bir şekilde gittigidiyor'da Essie Greenport ve Essie Sag Harbor ojelerini buldum. Yeni Essie ojelerimle çok mutluyum. Playa Del Platinum ve Sag Harbor'u uzun zamandır istiyordum, Greenport ve Sew Psyched de çok güzel renkler.
Bugün tırnaklarımda Essie Playa Del Platinum var. Bu, içinde çok hafif yeşil barındıran, gri-bej arası bir renk. Formülü güzel ve ıslak görünümlü bir bitişe sahip. Bu gördüğünüz üç kat. Bence çok güzel bir renk, hem günlük kullanıma uygun, hem de çok şık duruyor.

Haul: This and That =) & NOTD

Hello guys, I'm finally back! I can't tell how much I missed my blog, with all my beautiful friends =D I tried to go online as often as I could, but there is still so much to catch up on!
Meanwhile, I got my hands on some nice stuff. First, I'm going to show you the Rimmel London polishes I got.


From Left to Right: Night Flight, Trend Spotting, Best In Show, Reality Chic, Beige Babe.
Only skipped one color, which didn't appeal to me at all. Beige Babe is the warmest taupe I own. Night Flight is a very, very, very dark purple, and Best In Show is just gorgeous and the most unique from the bunch. Ain't those polishes just perfect for fall?
Then I ran around looking for Chanel Paradoxal. When I asked a few weeks ago, a store clerk said that the Chanel Fall collection will arrive in September. But now I'm learning that it has already arrived in August. And Paradoxal is sold out everywhere. I was getting crazy, but then I found this babe!
Take a look, ladies, I'm showing you the first true Paradoxal dupe to be sold =) It's by Sevilla, a local brand. Sevilla just loves to copy Chanel polishes. First they did Particuliere, and now they did Paradoxal! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw them side by side on my nail, they are dupes! The only difference I spotted is that the base color of Sevilla is a teeny tiny bit lighter, and the shimmer is more prominent on the nail, which is a good thing =) But the difference is almost non-existent, even under strong light, so there is no reason not to call this a dupe.


I got two bottles of it for $9 =) And they are 14 ml together, so WIN!
The other Sevilla is a beautiful dove grey with a hint of lavender.
Finally, I got my hands on two Catrice and some Essence nail art stuff, with help of Jeanette =) I love the Essence glitter, they are lovely! And how adorable is Fimo fruit!


Catrice I Sea You and Catrice Sold Out Forever. Well, it's my lucky inexpensive-chanel-duping day, I guess. =D

Finally, I have Rimmel London Reality Chic for you. It's a beautiful reddish brown, or should I say brownish red? To me it looks darker than Zoya Cola and OPI I'm Suzi and I'm a Chocoholic, but it's along the same line. Sorry, I can't think of a more suitable color from the past because I don't really invest in these colors. This one might be called Falu Red, I guess. =)

Merhaba arkadaşlar, sonunda tatilden döndüm =) Hepinizi çok özledim! Olabildiğince sık internete girmeye çalışsam da, evim gibi olmadı işte. Bu arada, yeni ojeler aldım, hepsini göstereceğim =)
Öncelikle Rimmel London'un yeni çıkan ojelerini aldım. Bunları Watsons mağazalarında bulabilirsiniz, özellikle Best In Show mükemmel. Bu koleksiyon sonbahar için çok uygun.
Sonra Chanel Paradoxal'ı aramaya başladım. Hiçbir yerde kalmamış. Sözde henüz Türkiye'ye gelmemişti, ama başka bir yerde geleli bir buçuk ay olduğunu söylediler. Neyse, ben böyle ararken Sevil'e girdim ve muhteşem bir sürprizle karşılaştım. Sevilla, Paradoxal'ın aynısını yapmış! Oje no'su 144, lütfen gidin ve alın =) Sonra bana teşekkür edin =) Ben iki tane aldım, 14 lira verdim. Normalde Chanel 56 lira. =D Bir de çok güzel gri bir ojesini aldım. Ama bu oje Claire's de varmış, hem de yarı fiyatına. Haberiniz olsun.
Bir de Almanya'dan arkadaşım Jeanette bana ilk Catrice ojelerimi yolladı. Açık yeşil olan başka bir meşhur Chanel ojesinin aynısı. Yani Jade'in. Bugünü Chanel'i ucuza kapatma günü ilan ediyorum =)
Son olarak, tırnağımda yeni aldığım Rimmel London Reality Chic var. Bu renk, kırmızıya kaçan kahverengi, ya da kahveye kaçan kırmızı. Biraz koyu bir renk, ama sonbahar için çok uygun. Ben bu tip renkleri pek almam, ama bu seri çok hoşuma gitti, ve bu renk de bir istisna değil.

NOTD: Avon Peppermint Leaf

Hello guys =) Thanks to Marjo, I could get my hands on three beautiful green polishes by Avon. I feel like it's Earth Day all over again! =)))

Now, things are a bit sketchy here. In Europe, Avon released a light green and dark green, so did they in the US. But the European colors, Peppermint Leaf and Green With Envy are different than their corresponding US colors, Jade and Olive Green. Green With Envy is a blackboard green, almost black, but Olive Green is a dupe for RBL Orbis Non Sufficit. Peppermint Green is like a green version of Misa Dirty Sexy Money, whereas Jade is lighter and more green based, closer to Chanel Jade. Of course I'd need all four colors to compare them side by side, but this is what I can see from the online pictures.
Anyway, today I have Avon Peppermint Leaf on my nails to show you.



Peppermint Leaf is a gorgeous polish. It's muted, yet surprisingly vivid. Think about Misa Dirty Sexy Money, but a green version instead of teal. Green is much more dominant in this polish, it's like a dark jade, but lighter than OPI Jade is the New Black. It was very hard to photograph correctly, it looks lighter and brighter on the pictures, but it's actually darker IRL. I think it falls somewhere between Mint and Medium Sea Green. If you want, I can do some comparisons with other polishes.


I finally did some stamping. I used an opaque mint franken as the stamping polish, and plate m79. Shown with another pair of earrings I own =) I actually have colors that are exact match for this earring, too, but I thought they were fun to post together like this.
Peppermint Leaf is a dream polish for my green-loving self. Me approves.

İşin garip tarafı burada başlıyor. Avon hem Avrupa'da, hem Amerika'da ikişer tane yeşil krem oje çıkardı. Sözde kendileri aynı fakat isimleri değişik olan bu ojeler aslında farklı. Resimlerden gördüğüm kadarıyla, Amerika'daki iki oje de Avrupa'lı muadillerinden daha açık ve daha yeşil tonluyken, buradakiler daha koyu ve daha mavi tonu içeriyor. Keşke dört oje de elimde olsaydı ve karşılaştırma yapabilseydim, ama internetten gördüğüm kadarıyla bunun böyle olduğunu söyleyebilirim.
Herneyse, bugün sizlere Peppermint Leaf isimli ojeyi göstereceğim.
Peppermint Leaf, muhteşem bir oje. Öncelikle soluk renkli bir oje, ama içindeki yeşil canlı duruyor. Tarif etmesi zor. Koyu yeşim rengi diyebilirim renk için. Resimlerde de tam olarak anlaşılmadı, gerçek hayatta biraz daha koyu ve biraz daha soluk bir yeşil, ama resimlerde daha açık renki ve daha parlak gözüküyor. Eğer isterseniz, karşılaştırma resimleri de koyabilirim.
Son olarak üzerine nane yeşili oje ve m79 no'lu diski kullanarak puantiye deseni yaptım, ve çok sevdiğim küpelerimle beraber resmini çektim =) Aslında küpelerin aynı renklerinde yapmak vardı aklımda, ama kısmet bu kombinasyonaymış. =)
