Review: Viva La Nails Sample Pack - Part 2

Here is another manicure I did using products from the Viva La Nails sample pack. This time I used small orange/green hexagonal glitter and flower stickers.


I bought two neon polishes today, yellow and orange. They are very sheer. Any guesses how many coats I had to use to get this manicure nearly opaque? =) I wish I had an opaque white at hand. Anyway, after a million coats I added the flower stickers on thumbs and rings, and sprinkled some hexagonal glitter on all nails. I really like the result:

Neyse, bir sürü kattan sonra baş ve yüzük parmaklarımın tırnaklarına çiçek etiketlerini yapıştırdım. Sonra gelişigüzel şekilde simleri ekledim ve cila sürdüm. Sonuç benim çok hoşuma gitti.

Haul: ORLY? YARLY!

Orly has finally made it to my country =) I got 4 colors but I'm going to buy more because I love them so much!

Those pinks are so adorable, and I love Enchanted Forest! Prince Charming is a unique taupe I didn't own yet. A comparison post will follow when I receive another taupe this week.

Review: Viva La Nails Sample Pack - Part 1

A week ago I ordered my sample pack from VivaLaNails.co.uk. They offer free sample packs for beauty/nail art blogs and channels, and shipping is also free. The order was processed incredibly fast, I got the package within 4 days.
My package consisted of stickers, water decals, crushed shells, rhinestones, glitters, pearls and dazzlings.

Today I tried some of the products and did a fun manicure. I used pink star dazzlings, dark blue rhinestones and butterfly stickers.


I used Pastel #23 (Pastel is a Turkish brand) on all fingers, except ring fingers, which I painted with Rimmel Your Majesty. Then I stamped on top of the blue with Your Majesty and the halftone image from plate m60. I added some pink star dazzlings randomly, and applied butterfly stickers and dark blue rhinestones on ring fingers.

I really like the variety and quality of the products. The only thing that bothered me is that when applying topcoat over dazzlings, their color bleeds out. And without topcoat they get caught by everything. My solution was adding topcoat very quickly, just like over Konad.
I definitely want to order various rhinestones, pearls and stickers from their site in the future. Although I love dazzlings, I don't think they're easy to manage. Their round and hexagonal glitters are beautiful, too, and yet to be shown in the second part of this review.

Bugün bazı ürünleri denedim ve eğlenceli bir manikür yaptım. Pembe yıldızlar, taşlar ve kelebek çıkartmaları kullandım.
Baz olarak Pastel #23 sürdüm, sadece yüzük parmaklarımın tırnağında Rimmel Your Majesty kullandım. Sonra lacivertlerin üzerine m60 diski ve Your Majesty kullanarak damga yaptım. Aralara pembe yıldızlar yapıştırdım ve yüzük parmaklarımda kelebek çıkartmaları ve koyu mavi taşlar kullandım.
Ürünlerin çeşitliliğini ve kalitesini beğendim. Tek rahatsız eden şey pembe yıldızların üzerine cila sürdüğümde renklerinin cilayla beraber dağılması oldu. Cilasız ise tırnakta bir yere takılmadan durmaları imkansız. Çözümü cilayı çok hızlı ve fazla sürüklemeden sürmekte buldum.
İleride sitelerinden başka tırnak süsleri de almak istiyorum. Özellikle pembe yıldız süsleri çok sevdiğim halde, başetmesinin biraz zor olduğunu düşünüyorum. Yuvarlak ve altıgen simleri ise bir harika, onları bu tanıtımın ikinci kısmında görebileceksiniz.

From The Vault: Romantique Rose Garden

This is the last manicure I've worn before I filed down & shaped my nails a bit. (As seen here.) The base is OPI Bubble Bath, stamped with various China Glaze Chrome and Romantique colors, such as Adore, Admire, Emotion, Harmony, 2030 and Metallic Muse and of course, image plate m76. I also added some stripes using a tiny brush and China Glaze Tinsel, because I was bored.

Would you keep Orly Green With Envy if you already had China Glaze Four Leaf Clover and they looked even more similar IRL? I just got it home, and I swatched them side by side on a piece of plastic, and they look very close under various lights, even more than the picture/bottles show. I guess I'm going get another Orly instead, but I'm not sure if this counts as a "different color". Need opinions! =D

Bu, tırnaklarımı törpüleyip şekillendirmeden önceki son manikürümdü. Baz olarak OPI Bubble Bath kullandım, disk m76 ve çeşitli China Glaze metalik ve krom ojeleri ile damgaladım. Ayrıca ince bir fırça ve China Glaze Tinsel kullanarak simli şeritler yaptım, çünkü canım sıkılmıştı. =)
Bu arada Orly Green With Envy aldım ama elimdeki China Glaze Four Leaf Clover ile çok yakın olduğunu farkettim. Hatta çıplak gözle daha bile yakınlar. Sanırım geri verip başka bir Orly alacağım, çünkü aralarında neredeyse biraz bile fark yok.

NOTD: Greenery

Yesterday I tried something different. I have some of the basic Konad polishes in mini sizes, and since I also have them full size, I decided to franken using the mini sized ones. I poured some of the special green polish into special yellow polish, to get the lime I wanted. I also put some green into a regular old white polish, to achieve a minty green. Both konad + konad and konad + regular mixes worked great for stamping.
I used plate m75 and both my frankened stamping polishes on top of Illamasqua Muse. Although I adore Muse, I found it hard to control. I kept flooding it into my cuticles. I hope that someday I'll be able to polish my nails flawlessly.
Finally I added some rhinestones and I was done.
This manicure reminds me of one of my favorite Pokémon, Bulbasaur.




My franken:

Dün değişik bir şeyler denedim. Elimde bazı mini konad ojeler var, ama aynılarının büyük boyları da mevcut. Bu yüzden minik olanlarla yeni konad ojeleri yaratmaya karar verdim. Konad yeşil ojesini konad sarı ojenin içine döktüm, böylece limon yeşili bir oje elde etmiş oldum. Koyu yeşilden birazcık da normal, katılaşmış bir beyaz ojeye döktüm, ve nane yeşili bir oje elde ettim. Konad ojeleri hem birbiriyle, hem de normal ojelerle karıştırıldığında işe yarıyor.
Bu manikürde elde ettiğim iki oje ve m75 diskindeki desenleri Illamasqua Muse üzerine uyguladım. Muse'a bayıldığım halde, sürümü biraz zor geldi. Sanırım fırçasını iyi kontrol edemedim, çünkü sürekli tırnak etlerime taşırdım. Umarım bir gün ben de tırnaklarımı kusursuz bir şekilde boyamayı başarırım.
Son olarak tırnaklarıma taşlar yapıştırdım.
Bu manikür bana en sevdiğim Pokémonlardan biri olan Bulbasaur'ı hatırlatıyor nedense =)

NOTD: Dark But Girly

Hey everyone =) Remember the "Dipping & Swiping Technique" I talked about a few posts ago? Well, I've been trying to master that technique for tutorial reasons, and it turns out that I'm by no means good at it, plus that the technique is not very reliable. The first time I got it right was sheer luck, I guess =/ But I'm going to do a tutorial about how I do my freehand french tips, and I'm almost good at it, too =)
These tips are freehanded, and 3 coats over black to be visible, but of course I prefer less coats. With more suitable colors, it's possible to get it correctly done in one coat =)
These nails are a bit dark but girly at the same time. Black base, China Glaze Sneaker Head tips, and China Glaze 2030 & plate m03 for the stamps.




I lent one of my double ended stampers to a newbie friend, and I was using the short stamper, but although it's easier to control, it's harder for me to align the designs. So I'm back to my double ended stamper for now.
Well, although the execution sucks, there is still the idea =)

Herkese merhaba =) Birkaç yazı önce bahsettiğim pratik Fransız manikürü tekniğini hatırlıyor musunuz? Eh, bir video çekmek için o teknik üzerinde uzmanlaşmaya çalışıyordum, ve uzmanlaşmayı bırakın, aslında beceremediğimi ve o teknikle düzgün yapmanın çok da garantili olmadığını anladım. Sanırım ilk sefer başarmam tamamen acemi şansıydı =/ Ama normalde Fransız manikürünü elimle nasıl yaptığımı mutlaka göstereceğim, üstelik o teknikte iyi bile sayılırım =)
Uçlarını elimle yaptım, siyah üzerine üç kat pembe sürdüm. Aslında bir kat beyaz üzerine bir kat pembe sürebilirdim ama beyazım yoktu. Başka renk kombinasyonlarında bir katta bile rengi gösterebilirsiniz, eğer düzgün sürerseniz =)
Bu manikür biraz karanlık ama aynı zamanda tam bir kız manikürü. Siyah baz üzerine China Glaze Sneaker Head kullanarak bant çekildi ve China Glaze 2030 & m03 diskiyle damga yapıldı.
Bu işlere yeni başlayan bir arkadaşıma iki uçlu damgalarımdan birini ödünç verdim, bu yüzden küçük damgamı kullanıyorum. Aslında daha kolay kontrol edilse de, desenleri hizalamakta çok zorlanıyorum. Bu yüzden iki uçlu damgama şimdilik geri döndüm.
Eh, uygulama kötü olsa da, en azından fikir verebilir =)

Tutorial: Evil Eye Design

Hey guys =) Finally, my first tutorial! First I want to tell you I'm incredibly camera shy. I can't narrate because I don't trust my pronunciation very much. =) And I'm really afraid of making mistakes, because especially with nails, it's so hard to correct & re-shoot everything!
So I decided to make a very simple tutorial for the famous evil-eye design, and I hope you find it useful or enjoy it generally.
P.S: The manicure above is different from the one seen on the video. I was experimenting with different sizes & combinations =)

Merhaba arkadaşlar =) Sonunda, ilk videom! Öncelikle belirtmek isterim ki, kamera karşısında çok utangaçım. Videoda ses yok çünkü telaffuzuma pek güvenemiyorum =) Ayrıca tırnaklarımı kamera karşısında yaparken geriliyorum, çünkü hataları düzeltip yeniden çekmek çok vakit alıyor.
Bu yüzden nazar boncuğu deseninin yapılışını anlatan basit bir video çekmeye karar verdim, umarım yardımı olur ve hoşunuza gider.

Some information about today's NOTD:
The Evil Eye Beads are very important in Turkish culture. These glass beads of various sizes are amulets that protect you/your home/your car from the bad energy that comes from envious looks by drawing the attention on themselves. If a bead gets broken, that means it has done its duty and just warded off an envious look that could harm you. Of course it's all superstition, but we still use them as decorations & accessories, because it's part of our culture =)

Yesterday, Jen posted a manicure in her blog, Nevertoomuchglitter, featuring Evil Eye Beads. I'm a Turkish girl, and I couldn't believe I never thought of this myself! Many girls in my country like to do little Evil Eye designs on their french manicures, but I'm a little more extravagant than that, and Jen's idea was awesome, because she turned her whole nail into an Evil Eye Bead! =)
So, here is my manicure:

I used a very old polish as a base, it's a very transparent denim blue, and I guess the finish is either metallic or frost, I can't really tell. I never really put it on, but it's very suitable for the glass look. I freehanded the white, then dropped the blue inside, finally added some navy shimmer in the center with a dotting tool. It's a fairly easy manicure to do.

Bugünkü tırnaklarım nazar boncuğundan esinlendi. Aslında nazar boncuğunun kendisiymiş gibi yaptım tırnaklarımı. Dün Nevertoomuchglitter blogundan Jen, bir nazar boncuğu manikürü yapmış, dedim "Eee ben de Türk'üm, benim neyim eksik?" Biliyorum Türk kızları arasında tırnaklara nazar boncuğu yapmak çok moda, ama tüm tırnağı nazar boncuğu yapmak gibi abartılı bir fikir biraz daha benim tarzım.
Baz olarak oldukça şeffaf yapılı, metalik mavi bir oje kullandım, cam hissini vermesi için. Sonra sırayla beyaz ile bir daire çizdim ve içini boyadım, sonra açık mavi ile daha küçük bir daire çizdim ve son olarak lacivert ile ortalarına birer nokta koydum. Yapımı oldukça basit =)

NOTD: Slim Funky French

Hey everyone =) It's 6:40 AM here! My sleep pattern is so terribly messed up, that I can't sleep before 7 AM and can't wake up before 3 PM. I hope I can somehow fix it =)
I did a French manicure for today. Today is the birthday of one of my best friends, and we're going out, so I wanted a simple, yet catchy manicure. I applied 3 coats of China Glaze Vintage Crepe. It's fine in 2 coats, but I was careless so I did 3. Then I used white polish for the tips. As you will see, the tips are very very slim. I still can't decide about the thickness of French tips that suit me the best. These are extra slim, but when I do them freehand, I feel like they're too wide. I guess I need to practice more to get them the way I want. These are freehanded, but because it's very very hard to get a nice line this thin, I used the dipping & swiping technique first*.
I liked the color combination very much, and I was going to leave the nails that simple, but I realized I had some bubbling & one nail had a piece of hair-like dust stuck under the topcoat, which I HATE. I didn't want to cover it with konad, either, so I added some rhinestones on top.





Trust me, they look much nicer from a distance.
So tell me, do you like slim French tips? Does this type of French suit me?

*Dipping & Swiping: Put a drop of nail polish in your opposite palm, dip your nail tip inside, and swipe from side to side. You'll have an amazingly thin & perfect looking french tip. I freehanded using that line as my guideline, to make them a bit wider. I'll try to shoot a tutorial for that.

Herkese merhaba. Saat sabahın 7'si =) Uyku düzenim o kadar şaşmış durumda ki, sabah 7'den önce uyuyamıyorum, öğlen 3'ten önce ise uyanamıyorum. Umarım bir şekilde düzeltebilirim =)
Bugün en iyi arkadaşlarımdan birinin doğumgünü, ve akşam dışarı çıkılacak. Bu yüzden hem basit, hem de göze çarpan bir manikür yapmak istedim. Tabanda 3 kat China Glaze Vintage Crepe var, uçlarda ise beyaz oje. Görebileceğiniz gibi uçlardaki bantları çok ince tuttum bu sefer. Hala hangi kalınlıkta yapmam gerektiğine tam olarak karar verebilmiş değilim. Bu sefer Fransız manikürünü bir elime damlayıp diğer elimle kazıyarak yaptım, ama tam güvenemiyorum bu tekniğe. Sanki şansa bala oldu gibi geldi bana. Ben yine elimle çekmeye devam edeceğim sanırım.
Tırnaklarımı bu şekilde sade bırakacaktım ama biraz baloncuk ve ufak tefek bozulmalar olunca, üstlerine taş yapıştırmaya karar verdim.
Bir ara elimle düzgün bir french yapmanın videosunu çekeceğim, ama kim bilir ne zaman.

Tips&Tricks: How To Prevent Smudging After Stamping

Hello everyone =) Today I'm going to talk about ways to avoid smudging while applying a regular topcoat. As most of you know, Konad special polishes are somewhat different than regular polishes, they won't dry quickly & tend to smudge if it's not konad topcoat. In the beginning I struggled for a long time with special polishes, but slowly I got the hang of it.
Here are some tips I think you might find useful:

• Always have a seperate, runny topcoat only for konading. The gloopier it gets, the harder it becomes to avoid smudging.
  
• Use a topcoat with a natural hair brush. Synthetic brushes will 90% smudge your design. If your favorite topcoat comes with a synthetic brush, extract a better, natural hair brush from an old bottle & use that.
  
• Only stamp after your base polish is completely dry. Take your time.
  
• After stamping, run your hands under cold water. This helps drying konad special polishes.
  
• Wait for about 15 minutes before proceeding with topcoat. Again, do not hurry. You will see what kind of a difference it makes once you try.
  
• Applying topcoat should go like this: Get a moderate amount of topcoat on the brush, not too much, but never too few. To much could make your design "bleed" as it wouldn't dry quick enough, and too few will make the brush touch the surface and it will streak and smudge. The amount should be enough to cover the nail without touching the brush to the surface. You can dip into your bottle between strokes, but within one stroke the brush may not meet the surface.
  
• Apply topcoat in 3 very quick steps like shown below:
  
  
  Complete coverage is not important. Go over the main part of the design first. Most of the smudging happens there. While using a full nail design, start from the sides and do the upper middle part last.
  
• Don't start at the bottom for a third time. (Step 3 above.) Start from the middle and go up. The topcoat will even out itself.
  
• Remember, only the first coat of topcoat is important. Don't try to get a perfect coverage, as this will probably ruin your design. You can always do a safe second coat afterwards.
  
• Any topcoat works with konad. The only things that could ruin the design are the brushes and brushstrokes.
  

I hope this little post was helpful! Ladies who ruin a perfect design at the last moment, please note that I share your pain! But using this technique, I almost never smudge. =)

Biliyor musunuz bilmiyorum ama, konad'ın kendi ojelerinin yapısı normal ojelerden daha farklı. Oldukça yoğun ve opak olan bu ojeler kendi başına kurumuyor, ve konad hariç bir cila sürüldüğü zaman sürüklenebiliyor. Bu da tüm deseni mahvediyor. Başlarda cila sürerken oldukça zorlanıyordum, ama zamanla (ve azimle) becerebilmeye başladım. İşte işinize yarayabilecek bazı bilgiler:

• Konad için her zaman normal cilanızdan ayrı, yapısı bozulmaya başlamamış bir cila kullanın. Cila katılaştıkça deseninizi mahvetmeye müsait hale gelir.
  
• Cilanızın fırçası bildiğimiz siyah fırça olsun. Sentetik beyaz fırçalar yüksek ihtimalle deseninizi bozacaktır. Eğer cilanızın fırçası sentetikse, başka bir oje fırçası kullanın.
  
• Tabana sürdüğünüz oje tam kurumadan damga yapmayın. Burada kaybedeceğiniz süre, silip tekrar yaparken kaybedeceğiniz sürenin yanında hiç kalır ;)
  
• Damga yaptıktan sonra ellerinizi soğuk suya tutun. Bu konad ojesinin kurumasına yardımcı olur.
  
• Koruyucu cila sürmeden önce 15 dk. kadar bekleyin. Acele etmediğiniz zaman daha iyi sonuç aldığınızı göreceksiniz.
  
• Cilayı şu şekilde sürün: Fırçanın üzerinde bol miktarda cila olsun, ama her tarafa akacak kadar değil. Miktar bir seferde fırçayı tırnağa değdirmeden dipten uca sürebilecek kadar olmalı. Tırnağın her yerine cilayı bir seferde sürmek zorunda değilsiniz, önemli olan bir sürüş içerisinde fırçanın tırnak yüzeyiyle temas etmemesi.
  
• Cilayı üç seferde, aşağıdaki gibi sürün:
  
  Mükemmel sürmeniz çok önemli değil. Önce desenin yoğun olduğu yeri aradan çıkarın. Tam kaplayan bir desen üzerine sürerken ise önce yanlara, en son olarak da ortaya sürün.
  
• Üçüncü adımda, tırnağın dibinden değil, ortasından başlayın. Sadece boş kalan yere sürün cilayı, cila kendi kendine düzgünleşecektir.
  
• Unutmayın, cilanın ilk katının sadece deseni koruması önemli. Sonra ikinci, düzgün bir kat sürebilirsiniz. Cilayı bir katta mükemmel sürmeye çalışırken deseni bozmayın.
  
• Konad her cilayla uyumludur. Aksini söyleyene inanmayın. Tek dikkat etmeniz gereken fırça ve onu nasıl kullandığınız.

Umarım bu yazı işinize yaramıştır =) Muhteşem bir deseni son anda mahveden herkese söylüyorum, aynı aşamalardan ben de geçtim! Ama yavaş yavaş kendimi geliştirdim ve yukarıda yazan maddelere dikkat ederek artık neredeyse hiç hata yapmıyorum =)

NOTD: Funky Feline

Hey everyone =) First of all, I want to thank everyone who took their time and voted for their favorite girly manicure. I appreciate all the contribution. Your opinion matters!
Anyway, today I have a manicure which is suitable for both spring and summer. I was thinking of doing a leopard print manicure with colorful spots. For that, I used a mint green franken made of several leftover green frankens and white. I frankened using frankens, that must be a new level, LOL. The spots are all frankens, too, except for China Glaze Lemon Fizz, which is the yellow, and the occasional white. For the stamping I used plate m57 and black special polish. I filled in the spots using an old nail art brush.





I'd like to share my tips and tricks about how to prevent smudging the konad special polishes with a regular topcoat. Would you guys be interested?

Bu arada bugün hem ilkbahar, hem yaz için uygun bir manikürle karşınızdayım. Bir süredir renkli benekleri olan leopar desenli bir manikür yapmayı düşünüyordum. Bunun için kendi karıştırdığım nane yeşili bir oje kullandım. Tabi bu kendi karıştırdığım ojeyi zamanında yine kendi karıştırdığım ojelerden yapmam biraz garip oldu =) Benekler için de genelde pastel renkte oje krizi geçirirken yaptığım ojeleri kullandım, sadece sarı olan China Glaze Lemon Fizz, bir de bildiğimiz beyaz oje kullandım. Desen için m57 diskini ve siyah konad ojesini kullandım. Benekleri ince bir fırça kullanarak yaptım.
Bu arada sıradaki yazımda, o kadar uğraşıp konadla desen yaptıktan sonra o desenleri mahvetmeme yöntemlerini anlatan birkaç püf noktasından bahsedeceğim =)
