Today I applied Rimmel London Sky High. In the store I thought it's a sky blue with a slight green tinge, but it's darker & greener than that. It's almost a Tiffany Blue, very gorgeous. Opaque in two coats, dried quickly and shiny, one of my favorite colors, what more could I ask for? =)
Then I decided to do some freehand designs. I used black and white creme polishes and a tiny brush for the cats, and blue & green rhinestones for the eyes. For the itty-bitty noses I used Rimmel London Rose Libertine (white cat) and my pale pink franken (black cats).
Thumb:
I'm thinking about getting more nail art brushes & switching to acrylic paint for freehand designs as soon as I can. Working with nail polish is hard, because it dries uneven & brushstroke-y. Will any acrylic paint I buy be safe for the nails, or do they make special acrylic paint just for nail art? Please let me know if you're familiar with acrylics =)

ReplyDeletei just started using acrylics and i read up on using acrylic paint for nail art. because most acrylic paints are non-toxic, they aren't harmful. i think that if i put it on top of nail polish anyways, it's safe for my nails. i've done designs with the acrylic paint and it works well... it does tend to be a little streaky and need multiple coats. but it's cheap enough to be extremely useful and beneficial to a nail artist like yourself. =)
ReplyDeletehope this helps!
ReplyDeleteThank you, @PaO* =)
ReplyDeleteCok tesekkurler, @Öykü =)))
Thank you so much for the feedback, @erica! It surely helped =)
@güzellikolsun cok sagol yardimin icin =) ben de ozellikle non-toxic olanlarindan arayacagim... =)

ReplyDeleteHi-
ReplyDeleteI just bought some acrylic paint today. They were recommended by another nail blogger Asami of Nails by Asami. I got a set of 14 paints for 20 USD. Here is the link to the paints: http://www.bornprettystore.com/product_info.php?products_id=300
This etailer is offering free shipping and 10% off with the coupon code OPENTENOFF.
I haven't received them yet, so I don't know if they're good or not, but I like the color selection and the fact that they are designed for nails.
That is just too cute.

Hey, Girlie! These are so super cute, I LOVE kitties. I'm a total cat person. This is also such a gorgeous teal! I have a black creme from this brand, I like their brush.
ReplyDeleteSo about diluting acrylic paints, it really depends on the paint. I've bought some that are super thick and some that are thin and watery. I like to dab a touch onto a piece of tinfoil, that way I can mix out the color I want and if it's thick, I'll just wet my brush and mix it a bit. The Born Pretty set though, those you can just use straight out of the tube. They're not too thick at all. I don't know of an acrylic paint tutorial just because each brand can be so different in terms of thickness. The good news is acrylic is so easy to mix and blend and thin out if you need to. I really hope you like working with acrylic paints! I can never go back to using polish for detail work; it dries too fast and becomes thick before I'm done. :-)
Thank you so much for the info, @Asami =) you rock! I hope the set arrives soon, they look so yummy! =)
ReplyDeleteOh, I did think of one, sort of. This video: http://youtu.be/il8lQ1znnt4?hd=1
ReplyDeleteI use acrylic paint straight out of the bottle but I do wet my brush, that might help a little.
Another kawaii one!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me giggle. It's so cute and random. :D
ReplyDelete@Asami ooh, I've already watched Pepo a month ago, but never really realized how you used the acrylic =D Watching it again helped a lot, thank you! =DDD
ReplyDelete@kittypolishnbags ^-^
@milan and vanaily thank you =D I giggled while doing it, too =DDD
OMG it sooo cuuuuute! =D
ReplyDeleteSimply amazing! I like the white kitty! :)
ReplyDeleteI've just recently used acrylic paint for freehand nail painting. Like what the others have already pointed out here at your comment section, it's easier to use compared to nail polishes for detailed work. As long as you protect your nails with enough base coat, acrylic won't be harmful.
I bought my set from a craft store and I got lucky because the consistency is just right. I use it straight out of the tube without adding water.
Good luck! I'm looking forward to your acrylic nail adventures! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, guys =)
ReplyDelete@rins, thank you for the info! I'm trying to find the best way to work with my current acrylic kit =) I hope I can manage to do some nice designs! =)
@youknow tesekkur ederim canim =)
