From The Vault: MAC Ruffian False Nail Remakes

Hello, everyone! Long time, no see =)
As you probably know, MAC did a collaboration with Ruffian and released 3 sets of false nails in the Ruffian Collection. These false nail sets are called Demilune, Demoiselle and Spectator.

Top to bottom: Demoiselle, Spectator, Demilune.

I hate the feeling of false nails on my nails. I feel like my nail beds are about to lift from my flesh when I remove them, and I hate the residue on my natural nails. Plus, these sets are too expensive in my opinion. I knew at once that they can be done using regular nail polish, so here it goes.

Demilune was created using Orly Glitz & Glamour, Golden Lady #423 (navy), and Essie Matte About You. First I painted my nails with Glitz & Glamour, then I started painting with #423 above the cuticle and left a crescent of gold at the bottom of my nail. Finally applied Matte About You on the navy parts.

Spectator was created using Rimmel Alaska & black acrylic paint. I started off with 3 coats of Alaska, then I carefully painted black moons, french tips & the logo using black acrylic paint and a fine brush. The logo bled a bit and became thicker then I intended.

Demoiselle was created using Essie Topless & Barefoot, OPI Big Apple Red & black acrylic paint. The french tips are more chevron-like here. First I painted the nails using Essie Topless & Barefoot, then painted over using OPI Big Apple Red, leaving a moon at the cuticle. Finally I painted the french tips using black acrylic paint.
These are excellent nail art practice, plus the results will make you happy if you like the designs & don't want to spend $25 for each set.
That was all for today. I hope you enjoyed this post! =)
Herkese merhaba!
Demilune çin Orly Glitz & Glamour, Golden Lady #423 (lacivert) ve Essie Matte About You kullandım. Son olarak lacivert kısımların üstüne Matte About You sürdüm.

31 Day Challenge: Day 29

Today is Day 29, nails INSPIRED BY THE SUPERNATURAL. For this manicure I decided to combine supernatural with something I like: Mario. Result: I drew Boos on my nails! =)
The base is A England Tristam, an awesome scattered navy holo. Then I drew the Boos using acrylic paint.

Boo, Shy Boo

King Boo

Thank you for looking and see you on Day 30!

Review: Gabrini Diamond Collection

Hello my dear friends! Today I have a review that was waiting for me to post for more than a month now. Gabrini is a Turkish brand, who kindly sent me their Diamond Collection to review.

Gabrini Diamond Collection

There are 20 polishes in this collection, with finishes like sparkle (similar to Zoya's sparkle finish), shimmer, foil and shimmer mixed with glitter.
I did four sets of skittles to display all 20 colors:

Thumb to pinky: D53, D57, D60, D50, D56

D53: Spring green with yellow shimmer. This one is my favorite from this bunch. It looks awesome in the sun, and it also contains some neon pigment. Two coats.
D57: Bright yellow shimmer. This one also contains neon pigment, because it glows under the black light. It's really bold and in-your-face bright. Three coats.
D60: Peachy tan shimmer with glitter. I don't really like glitter when it's sparse like this, it only adds up to difficulty of removal. Two coats.
D50: Pale pink sparkle. Very delicate color, this requires more than three coats to be opaque. Pictured is three coats.
D50: White sparkle. This one also requires more than three coats. Pictured is three coats.

Thumb to pinky: D65, D68, D62, D54, D69

D65: Medium cool green shimmer. Reminds me of the rind of a watermelon. Two coats.
D68: Bright fuchsia shimmer. This leans more purple than red. Two coats.
D62: Bright reddish pink sparkle. This is my favorite from this bunch. Two coats.
D54: Warm toned cherry red with gold shimmer. Two coats.
D69: Brown with bronze shimmer. This is a very fall appropriate color. Two coats.

Thumb to pinky: D61, D66, D52, D59, D51

D61: Bronze/brown with tonal shimmer. Very fall appropriate. Two coats.
D66: Cool, light pink foil. One of my favorites from the collection. Mom already used up half of this bottle. Two coats.
D52: Orange with sparse orange glitter. Again, I don't really like the glitter. Two coats.
D59: Strawberry pink sparkle. Two coats.
D51: Again, strawberry pink sparkle, a bit lighter and warmer than D59. Two coats.

Thumb to pinky: D55, D58, D63, D64, D67

D55: Bright, like, neon-bright pink sparkle. Very similar to Zoya Gilda. Two coats.
D58: Bright pink sparkle, only a tad darker than D55. Two coats.
D63: Gunmetal gray sparkle. This one is one of my favorites, it really reminds me of Chanel Graphite. Two coats.
D64: Denim blue shimmer. Two coats.
D67: Navy with strong blue and purple shimmer. I love this one, too. Not just your average navy shimmer. Two coats.

Altogether this collection provides a wide range of colors, appropriate for different times of the year. My personal favorites are D53, D62, D66, D59, D58, D63 and D67. Gabrini polishes retail for about 60¢ in my country. Sadly I don't have a clue about the availability of these polishes internationally, but I will update with information as soon as I have it.
*These products were provided for me by the manufacturer for review.

Herkese merhaba!

D64: Jean mavisi sedefli oje.

Pink Wednesday: Circles & Dots

Sorry guys, I've been absent for, like, 5 days. I've been so busy and I haven't really been able to answer any comment =/ I'm going to write a post about what Oyku brought me from the States =) Thank you so much, Oyku, you know you're awesome! Oh, and I had a nail polish meeting with my Turkish friends, too, and it was quite nice =) I'm going to post pictures soon!
What a basic but wonderful idea this manicure by Rebecca is! I was so impressed that I had to try it myself for Pink Wednesday. Her version almost looks like Minx, so awesome =)
I used American Apparel Passport Blue as my base color, then I used my dotting tool to create the bigger dots. The polishes I used are China Glaze Emotion and China Glaze Admire. Then I used the other side of the dotting tool to create the smaller dots with my base polish. I also made some dots with Emotion and Admire to fill in the empty areas. Here is the result:

American Apparel Passport Blue & China Glaze Romantique Dots

American Apparel Passport Blue & China Glaze Romantique Dots

I hope you like it! Sorry for the quick post, more to come soon =)

NOTD: Mint Freshness

Yesterday I got this lovely navy blue by Alix Avien. (For my Turkish readers, this color is #163.) I think it's very close to China Glaze Calypso Blue, based on the pictures I have seen. This polish has a jelly-like consistency but wears like a creme, has a nice brush, is opaque in one coat; although I did two out of habit. I absolutely love Alix Avien cremes & jellies, I think Alix Avien and Pastel are the best Turkish polish brands, followed closely by Golden Rose. By the way I'm planning to add Turkish brand names to my labels, to make browsing easier. When I have time, I will go through my older posts, too.
The stamping color is frankened by me, I used a small amount of Konad Special Polish in Green, which I dropped into a bottle of regular, thickened white creme polish. I mixed them well and achieved an opaque mint green. I used the leafy image from m75 to represent mint leaves:

Right hand:

The saturation setting of the camera was left on "high", which is why it looks like I have jaundice =)
I hope you're not having a dripping-wet summer =)

Review: Viva La Nails Sample Pack - Part 1

A week ago I ordered my sample pack from VivaLaNails.co.uk. They offer free sample packs for beauty/nail art blogs and channels, and shipping is also free. The order was processed incredibly fast, I got the package within 4 days.
My package consisted of stickers, water decals, crushed shells, rhinestones, glitters, pearls and dazzlings.

(Crushed shells are not pictured here)

Today I tried some of the products and did a fun manicure. I used pink star dazzlings, dark blue rhinestones and butterfly stickers.

I used Pastel #23 (Pastel is a Turkish brand) on all fingers, except ring fingers, which I painted with Rimmel Your Majesty. Then I stamped on top of the blue with Your Majesty and the halftone image from plate m60. I added some pink star dazzlings randomly, and applied butterfly stickers and dark blue rhinestones on ring fingers.

Right hand:

I really like the variety and quality of the products. The only thing that bothered me is that when applying topcoat over dazzlings, their color bleeds out. And without topcoat they get caught by everything. My solution was adding topcoat very quickly, just like over Konad.
I definitely want to order various rhinestones, pearls and stickers from their site in the future. Although I love dazzlings, I don't think they're easy to manage. Their round and hexagonal glitters are beautiful, too, and yet to be shown in the second part of this review.

If you are a nail/beauty blogger, you can get your free sample pack here:
http://www.vivalanails.co.uk/samples.html

Baz olarak Pastel #23 sürdüm, sadece yüzük parmaklarımın tırnağında Rimmel Your Majesty kullandım.

NOTD: Blue Velvet & Lace

Hello everyone =) First of all, thank you everyone for the tags & awards! I've been lazy to update my "Tags" page... *hangs head in shame* I promise that I'll do that soon, and thank you again for all the nice awards you honor me =)
Today's nails were very simple in the beginning, I just applied 2 coats of dark blue shimmery polish, and a coat of China Glaze Matte Magic on top. I love the velvety look of this one. <3

But then hours had passed and I just felt the urge to do some konad on top! I tried to stamp with konad special polish in pastel violet, but it didn't work well with matte, so I applied a glossy top coat on top, and then stamped the lacey design from plate m79 randomly. The pastel violet looks like a light grey on top of the navy, I like it very much =)

Oh, before I forget to mention: The blue polish from yesterday stained my nails really badly, so I recommend the winner to use a trusty base coat underneath! I had smurf nails for the first time in my life! =D

NOTD: Galaxy Dust

I have seen this idea somewhere, but I just can't remember where. It could be a blog or flickr, maybe both! =D If the idea belongs to someone you know, please notify me so that I can credit her. Update: Found it!
I actually wanted to give one of my old Inglot polishes another chance. It's this beautiful, rich blue/purple duochrome microglitter in the bottle, but sadly it doesn't transfer on the nails. I used 4 coats, but all I got was a generic muted dark blue with barely visible blue shimmer.
I decided to amp it up a bit by sponging China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the bottom, and then green flakies by Inglot on top of Ruby Pumps.

Because my topcoat has gone bad, again, the thing just wouldn't dry properly. So I stamped with m36 in silver to cover the dents:

Sorry for the upside-down butterflies. (Again!) I always do the konad so that it's upright when I look at my nails. I also used the small side of the stamper, that's why some parts of the small butterfly are missing. The image wouldn't fit, which I realized after transferring the images to my computer.

Giveaway details will follow in the upcoming days!

I'm Free!!!! And a small haul, and a NOTD =)

Hi guys! I'm finally free! Yaaaay! Sleepless days and nights of hard work are finally over. Phew! Now I can attend to my konad stuff, and post regularly again =)
Jeanette from The Swatchaholic helped me to get my hands on some Essence and some P2 stuff. She is amazing! Thank you, Jeanette!

Here are all 3 polishes I ordered, and a fourth one, gift from Jeanette =)

P2 Electric (gift) and Dangerous

P2 Gorgeous and Elegant

Essence rhinestone sets! Yaay! =D

Finally, here is a recent manicure, Claire's petroleum blue jelly with konad s09 and China Glaze DV8 for the stamping. The base color is beautiful, it's a very dark teal, on the blue side, and it's 4 coats for opacity. DV8 stamped subtle, but I like it =)

Oh, and this is my second attempt at cleaning the cuticles with a brush =) I got three paint brushes, one very tiny and two larger ones, and I'm amazed how they work =) Still need to practise to make it perfect, though. I'll post pictures soon!

NOTD: Meteor Shower

Today I decided to give Meteor Shower one more chance. Well, although it's a stunning color, I can't say the same thing for the formula. Long story short, I'm not too fond of it. I will use this occasionally, but it really disappointed me. I was expecting a gorgeous polish with a dreamy formula, I guess... Maybe I should have applied even more carefully.
Anyway, I stamped the nails using the chrome polish I last mentioned. Although it was very good for stamping, opacity-wise, it's so slow drying that it smudged when I stamped. Do you know what I mean? Other polishes are most of the time already tacky when delivered on the stamp, and they don't smudge, but this one did. I had to remove 7 nails and re-do them. I guess I'll let it wait a bit before stamping the next time I use it.
Here is another simple mani using konad plate m54:

And finally, here is the award BabyD, Danica, gildedangel, kelsealaurel and kelliegonzo tagged me, thank you guys! If I'm missing out anybody, I'm sorry! My head was so busy in the last few days =/

7 Facts About Me

  • I have never been a girly-girl. My nails are the only thing extravagant about me. I never had dolls, I played with teddys and stuffed animals. I don't own any high-heels, clutches, low-cut tops, etc. I run around wearing a T-Shirt, jeans and chucks most of the time =)
  • I met my boyfriend on sheer coincidence, and we were together in less then 24 hours. He was living in another city, I didn't even want to go to that place the day before, and me and my parents had a little row. I gave in, sulking. =) The funny thing is, I never believed in love at first sight before I met him.
  • I love console games. I own Wii, DS and PS3, with 20, 34 and 7 games respectively. I was a game collector before I started collecting polishes. This hobby is more economic, for sure =) Guys somehow don't believe I can like console games. Huh?
  • I love being at home. I can entertain myself endlessly at home =) I always invent stuff to do, I re-read my books, I play games, read blogs, do my nails, talk to myself and think about tutorials&videos. The only thing I can't do is study. I was a very good student until college, but now I just want to be over with it. =/
  • I've always wanted to be a doctor. Due to some strategic mistakes, I couldn't study medicine. Although I'm kinda glad I didn't, I still have a thing for medicine. I love to watch House MD =)
  • I wish I had a cat. If my parents allowed, I would rescue a cat from the street or fostercare right away. I have a special bond with cats, I think I can understand their nature well =) Saying that, my boyfriend has a cat, and I'm extremely jealous of her! How stupid is that???
  • I hate getting wet. I feel like I will never dry properly again. Especially in winter. =/ Not fun.
I'm tagging everyone on my blogroll who has not been tagged yet =) Sorry that I wasn't very clear, but I'm so sleepy at the moment!

NOTD: Starry Winter Night

Edit: I've passed the 50 followers mark this week, thanks to anyone who takes time and reads my blog =) I truly appreciate your fellowship!
It seems I couldn't keep my word =) I tried to mattify the Khrome manicure yesterday, which turned out to be a big no-no. Mattified Khrome looked dirty and unappealing on me, so I took it off. Today, I put on a local blue jelly polish with tiny silver and blue glitter. It reminds me of Essie's Starry Starry Night, only less black-ish and with smaller glitter. In my opinion, this one could be a nice substitute. I personally like this polish very much, it's very unique for my country's standards, but unfortunately this one is discontinued and I could only grab two bottles =/
Afterwards, I stamped snowflakes on the nails using plate m59 and konad special polish in medium blue with a purplish pearl, whose name I don't know. I would say "sky pearl", but on the pictures, sky pearl looks more visible on darker colors, and mine is quite subtle. After stamping, I did matte french tips with China Glaze Matte Magic, and the ring fingers are matte with glossy tips. Ring fingers also have teardrop shaped rhinestones.

With Flash:

I hope you enjoy this mani as much as I do =) It reminds me of a very cold and dark winter night =)
